Lincoln Financial Field to Light Up Yellow on July 25 to Raise Awareness About Sarcoma

Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field joins national effort to Light Up for Sarcoma, raising visibility for rare cancer and those it affects.

Light Up for Sarcoma is a powerful way to make this rare cancer seen. Each illuminated building represents a community standing in support of patients, survivors, and families affected by sarcoma.”

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, July 24, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On July 25, 2025, landmarks across the United States will light up yellow for Light Up for Sarcoma Day, a national awareness effort led by the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) as part of Sarcoma Awareness Month. This bold visual display shines a light on sarcoma — a rare and often overlooked cancer that makes up about 1% of adult cancers and as much as 20% of childhood cancers.

In Philadelphia, Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles, will light up yellow to honor those affected by sarcoma and raise national awareness about the urgent need for more research, resources, and recognition. Community members are encouraged to visit, take photos, and share them on social media to help raise awareness.

“Light Up for Sarcoma is a powerful way to make this rare cancer seen,” said Brandi Felser, CEO of the Sarcoma Foundation of America. “Each illuminated building represents a community standing in support of patients, survivors, and families affected by sarcoma.”

SFA has deep local connections to Philadelphia, including John S. Brooks, MD, who is an Emeritus Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. SFA's dedication to critical sarcoma research in the city is demonstrated by a significant collaboration in 2021 with Flyers Charities and fans. This partnership enabled SFA to fund a $50,000 research grant at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, supporting promising immunotherapy research for patients, in honor of Flyers’ player, and Ewing sarcoma survivor, Oskar Lindblom.

For rare cancers like sarcoma, breakthroughs depend on critical research funding. Philadelphians can directly contribute to this vital need by joining the Race to Cure Sarcoma on August 16, 2025, at the Philadelphia Navy Yard (4747 S Broad St), an event aiming to raise awareness and $90,000 for essential research. Over the last 9 years, this event has raised over $557,000 for much-needed research.

SFA encourages individuals, communities, and organizations to get involved by:

-Sharing photos of illuminated buildings and monuments on social media using #LightUpForSarcoma, #curesarcoma and #Sarcoma Awareness Month. Additionally, please email photos to communications@curesarcoma.org.

-Participating in or donating to an upcoming Race to Cure Sarcoma, joining others to advance research and improve outcomes for those affected by this rare cancer.

Media spokespeople are available for interviews upon request.
