Dixielectricar raises $9,500 for Fore Her

DESTIN — On Nov. 29, Dixielectricar raffled off a limited edition E-Z-GO golf cart to benefit Fore Her, a nonprofit serving those battling breast cancer along the Emerald Coast. The pink L6 Express Model cart, nicknamed “Pinkie” by the Dixielectricar staff, was one of about 250 carts in that style distributed to dealers across the United States.

“We purchased this limited edition golf cart and knew that we had to do something fun with it,” said Colin Gorman of Dixielectricar. “We set a goal of raising $10,000 with this raffle and we are thrilled with the support that the community showed Fore Her during this process.”

Together, Dixielectricar and Fore Her spent four weeks showcasing “Pinkie” throughout the community. “Pinkie” made an appearance at the Destin Commons, Seascape, Rosemary Beach, the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate office, and Kelly Plantation raising more than $9,500 and selling close to 500 tickets.

Ultimately, “Pinkie” was won by Fore Her board member and longtime supporter, Jennifer Crawford. Crawford was out of town at the time of the drawing and had to be convinced by the crowd at Dixielectricar during the live drawing that she did in fact win when she was called and notified.

“Jennifer was the perfect person to win this cart,” said Amy Walsh, founder of Fore Her. “She gives to our mission year round and has a huge part in helping us grow and sustain the work we are doing at Fore Her.”

Fore Her, based in Santa Rosa Beach, works to financially assist individuals battling breast cancer along the Emerald Coast, allowing those battling to use the money in anyway they need--from paying the mortgage and utilities to taking a last vacation with their family.

“We loved working with Dixielectricar on this raffle," Walsh said. "The community was really excited about this fundraiser and we cannot thank Dixielectricar enough for naming us as the benefiting charity of this raffle."
