What’s on TV Monday: ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘Lodge 49’
Season 4 of “Better Call Saul” comes to a close on AMC, followed by the Season 1 finale of “Lodge 49.”
What’s on TV
BETTER CALL SAUL 9 p.m. on AMC. Talk about cliffhangers. In last week’s episode, Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) reflected on his motivation after a visit to the reinstatement board over his law license and nearly reached a breaking point with Kim (Rhea Seehorn). In this Season 4 finale, they hatch a plan to clear his reputation, while Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) and Mike (Jonathan Banks) are forced to change course after a walkout.
RX EARLY DETECTION: A CANCER JOURNEY WITH SANDRA LEE (2018) 8 p.m. on HBO; also on HBO streaming platforms. In 2015, the chef and former Food Network host Sandra Lee learned she had breast cancer. Within weeks, she underwent a lobectomy and a double mastectomy, all while being filmed for this raw documentary. In an appearance on “Good Morning America,” she said she viewed the film as a tool that could help those with breast cancer and their families learn about a path to recovery.
LODGE 49 10:25 p.m. on AMC. This quiet drama about an optimistic surfer dude (Wyatt Russell) who stumbles upon a questionable fraternal order wraps up its first season. (Fans can breathe a sigh of relief: AMC announced last week that the show would be back.) In this episode, the future of the lodge hangs by a thread, and Dud (Russell) switches gears. He’s probably not sweating it, though. In an interview with The New York Times, Russell reflected on his character: “He can see the magic in the little things, and I think that’s what drives Dud to keep going.”
What’s Streaming
MO AMER: THE VAGABOND (2018) on Netflix. Mo Amer, a Kuwaiti-born Palestinian-American comedian, first made his name as a member of “Allah Made Me Funny,” a touring collective of Muslim comics. Last year, he made his network television debut on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” where he joked about sitting next to Eric Trump on a flight to Scotland. (“I just sat next to him, and I said, ‘Assalam Alaikum, Eric! How you doin’?’”) Amer retells that story and shares his experiences as a refugee in this new Netflix special.
A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT (2014) on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Shudder, Vudu and YouTube. Take a spaghetti western, throw in a touch of Iranian New Wave and a bit of David Lynch, and you have this debut feature by Ana Lily Amirpour about a chador-cloaked vampire (Sheila Vand) who stalks the residents of a seedy Iranian city.
VINTAGE ROADS GREAT & SMALL on Acorn TV. Sitting shoulder to shoulder in a 1936 Morgan 4/4, the hosts Christopher Timothy (“All Creatures Great & Small”) and Peter Davison (“Doctor Who”) take a very vintage trip through very vintage, and sometimes unpaved, roads in this three-part travelogue series.
