    Well done BermudAir!
Loving to see the diversified routes and hopefully we can benefit from increased tourism numbers.

    Thank you, BermudAir!

  3. Garry says:

Would love to see some (real) Caribbean routes. These US provincial routes are useful for Americans and business travelers, pretty useless for most of the population!

    • Joe Bloggs says:

I doubt we will get many Caribbean routes from Bermuda. The recurring numbers are just not there.

With that said, Boston, New York and Washington are great getaways, as are Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Richmond and Fort Lauderdale.

Orlando is still good for people with younger children or grandchildren.

I think a big move here would be for them to join an airline group like star alliance so that they can codeshare. This would really allow them to open out the routes that they can offer.

        • Triangle Drifter says:

That has some merit though airlines that already serve Bermuda will not likely have any interest in such a codeshare. They would prefer you to be warming their seats for the entire trip.

There is one very big airline which has a hub at a city where BermudAir flies already. Southwest. The airport is Baltimore, BWI. BWI is to Southwest what ATL is to Delta and CLT is to AA. They pretty much own the place.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

BermudaAir flys regional jets, all one type. Saves maintenance costs having one type, like Southwest. Any route to the Carribean is way beyond the range of these planes.

      Besides, where is the demand?

  4. Bdaonion says:

Yes regional….but you are incorrect with the range of this aircraft. Bermuda air is operating the Embraer E175 has a range of up to 2,200 nautical miles (4,074 km) with passengers, including fuel for a divert field 100 nm away and standard mission reserves.

1,053 miles-Bermuda → Caribbean so this jet can pretty much get anywhere in the Caribbean with fuel plenty fuel for diversion without using the reserve of 100 NM.

Depending on which variant you go for can be anywhere from 1500-3000NM.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

Agreed on the performance specifications of the E175. And the “new” E190s will have the same range.

The problem that I see (and I do not claim to have any special knowledge of the airline industry) is that there are simply not enough people in Bermuda who will want to go to the Caribbean every week. And flying to Bermuda for a connecting fight will be much more expensive that staying in North America of a connecting flight.
