Arkansas Bill proposes getting rid of step therapy requirement for metastatic cancer
WEBVTT A PROPOSED ARKANSAS BILL WOULD MAKE IT EASIER FOR METASTATIC CANCER PATIENTS TO RECEIVE TREATMENT. METASTATIC CANCER IS THE FINAL STAGE OF THE DISEASE. IT MEANS THE PRIMARY TUMOR HAS SPREAD TO OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY LIKE LYMPH NODES. SENATE BILL 4-4-6 WOULD ELIMNATE STEP THERAPY FOR PATIENTS. PATIENTS WOULD NO LONGER NEED TO FAIL TREATMENT WITH A LESS POWERFUL DRUG, TO THEN MOVE ONTO A MORE POWERFUL DRUG. CO-FOUNDER OF METSQUERADE, KELLI DAVIS, SAYS THIS BILL WOULD HELP PATIENTS GET THE CORRECT TREATMENT FOR THEIR SPECIFIC CANCER. AND POTENTIALLY LIVE LONGER. "so rather than taking a subpar treatment, because everyone else has to be on, this allows us to potentially extend remission or even live longer with metastatic breast cancer which is pretty much everything to us." THE SENATE BILL WAS SENT TO THE INSURANCE AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE. THEY RECOMMENDED THE FULL SENATE APPROVE IT. AND DON'T FORGET NORTHWEST ARKANSAS METSQUERADE IS JUST OVER A MONTH AWAY. THE EVENT IS APRIL 6TH AT THE HOLIDAY INN CONVENTION CENTER. INDIVIDUAL TICKETS START AT 120 DOLLARS. ALL PROCESS GO TOWARD FUNDING RESEARCH FOR METAVIVOR.
