Sureline Systems Survey Says: Cloud Migration Concerns Exist In A Majority Of Companies

US and Canadian Companies Overwhelming Embrace Hybrid Cloud Solutions

The survey, conducted among IT professionals across the US and Canada revealed some very startling results, one key finding among them was that a significant number of companies had no cloud migration plans.

The survey, conducted during the recent Cloud Migration Strategies to Enable Digital Transformation webinar co-hosted with strategic partner Zycom Technologies, polled the audience of US and Canadian IT professionals on a myriad of cloud migration deployment initiatives. When asked what the main obstacles were for implementing a cloud migration strategy, almost 40% of the respondents cited security risks as a key factor. Concurrently, close to 30% also cited they were unsure of the total cost impact on their budgets. Many of the respondents also cited numerous other obstacles with a primary one being it was unclear as to the time required to complete a cloud migration.

When polled about which form of cloud migration strategy their company embraced approximately 60% responded that the Hybrid Cloud was their primary choice while a scant 18% were embracing only Private Cloud. Two of the interesting findings were that no respondents’ companies were solely embracing the Public Cloud and almost 22% of those responding had no cloud migration strategy at all.
In a further question regarding what percentage of applications they were intending to migrate to the cloud – it is interesting that almost 30% of those queried had no plans for migrating any of their applications, of course that means 70% are planning to migrate some existing workloads to a cloud environment. With 50% of all respondents planning to migrate at least35% of their applications and 20% migrating up to 30%.
