Early detection & prevention key to breast cancer cure

Al-Ahli Hospital launched Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October through a clinic for free examination and create awareness about the disease.
Visitors to the clinic has the opportunity to check themselves as well as to learn about symptoms, importance of early detection and screening of breast cancer.
Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab Hussain, Chief of Medical Staff at Al Ahli Hospital, said, “Breast cancer awareness campaign comes in response to the increasing number cases found around the world. Early detection and prevention of breast cancer is very importance and this campaign intends to get this message across to the community.”
Al- Ahli Hospital is keen on building a community that believes that prevention is better than cure, therefore, healthy lifestyles are encouraged. Early detection of this disease can save lives. So Al-Ahli Hospital urges all women in Qatar to be aware and take part in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
It reminds you when you go over that to get your mammogram screening. Mammogram screenings are so important, and we are glad to be one of the big hospitals to have three dimensional mammograms available,” he added.
Importantly, the new advanced technology used at the Al- Ahli Hospital breast imaging has no greater risk of radiation exposure.
Faten Jabnouni the registered midwife at Al- Ahli Hospital, said, “Our main goal of this campaign is to ensure that women check themselves regularly as early detection of the disease can save lives.”
She said even though not much was known about the actual cause of breast cancer and how it could be prevented, there is hope for those who are diagnosed with the disease through early detection and seeking effective treatment.
She therefore, encouraged women to visit recognized health facilities and get treatment that had been proven to be effective, saying, “It is important that we access proper treatment methods and educate others to do the same”.
