Delta Plane Turns Around After Man Assaults Flight Attendant, Officials Say

A Delta Airlines flight bound for Beijing returned to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after a passenger assaulted and injured a flight attendant, officials said. The 23-year-old man sitting in first class attacked the flight attendant about 45 minutes into Delta Flight 129 on Thursday night Sea-Tac Airport spokesman Perry Cooper said. Passengers helped restrain him, Cooper said, until the plane landed back at Sea-Tac and Port of Seattle police arrested the man. "The passenger was restrained on board and was removed from the flight by law enforcement without further incident," Delta said in a statement. The flight attendant and one other person were injured and taken to a hospital. Airport officials said they conferred with the FBI and the incident is not thought to be a national security threat.

Hawaii Judge Leaves Trump Administration Rules in Place for Travel Ban

A federal judge in Hawaii left Trump administration rules in place for a travel ban on citizens from six majority-Muslim countries. U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson denied an emergency motion filed by Hawaii asking him to clarify what the U.S. Supreme Court meant by a "bona fide" relationship in its ruling last month. The Supreme Court ruled the administration could mostly enforce its travel ban, but said those "with a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States" could enter. Watson says the relationship question would be better posed to the Supreme Court, not him. Hawaii attorney general Doug Chin objected to the administration's omission of grandparents, aunts and uncles from the administration's list of people meeting the definition of a close relationship.

Tillerson to Visit Kuwait in Bid to Resolve Qatar Crisis

The Trump administration is being drawn further into the crisis engulfing Qatar and many of its Gulf Arab neighbors, a diplomatic tussle that it wanted to avoid. Despite numerous U.S. appeals for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt to resolve their issues with Qatar on their own, the State Department said that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would visit the region next week in a bid to mediate a solution. Spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Tillerson would visit Kuwait, which has been trying to broker an agreement, on Monday after stops in Ukraine and Turkey. She said Tillerson would meet with Kuwaiti officials, but his presence in the region leaves open the possibility that he may try to shuttle between the neighboring countries to forge a resolution. The four nations cut off diplomatic ties to Qatar a month ago, accusing the tiny nation of funding terrorism and spreading unrest. Qatar has refused to comply in whole with a list of demands from its neighbors.

Smelling Your Food Leads to Weight Gain, Study Shows

Joey Tribbiani once famously claimed on "Friends" that, “Half the taste [of food] is in the smell.” And according to a new study, the more delicious that meatball sandwich smells, the higher the likelihood that your body may pack on the pounds. Researchers have found that smell-deficient mice who ate the same amount of fatty foods as mice who could smell, gained twice their normal weight. In addition, mice with boosted scent receptors, “super-smellers,” gained even more weight than those with a normal sense of smell. The results of the new study were published in the journal Cell Metabolism, and the findings point to an unexplored link between olfactory neurons and weight gain. The study also found that the genetically-altered rodents who could not smell lost around 16 per cent of their body weight. The study suggests that not being able to smell food could have a surprising effect on the metabolism, potentially helping those struggling with weight loss remain thin even when eating fatty foods.

Tumor Gene Testing Urged to Tell if Drug Targets Your Cancer

Colon cancer. Uterine cancer. Pancreatic cancer. Whatever the tumor, the more gene mutations lurking inside, the better chance your immune system has to fight back. That's the premise behind the recent approval of a landmark drug, the first cancer therapy ever cleared based on a tumor's genetics instead of the body part it struck first. Now thousands of patients with worsening cancer despite standard treatment can try this immunotherapy — as long as genetic testing of the tumor shows they're a candidate. Today, doctors diagnose tumors by where they originate — breast cancer in the breast, colon cancer in the colon — and use therapies specifically tested for that organ. In contrast, the Food and Drug Administration labeled Keytruda the first "tissue-agnostic" treatment, for adults and children. The reason: Seemingly unrelated cancers occasionally carry a common genetic flaw called a mismatch repair defect. Despite small studies, FDA found the evidence convincing that for a subset of patients, that flaw can make solid tumors susceptible to immunotherapy doctors otherwise wouldn't have tried.

Blac Chyna is not backing down after Rob Kardashian's explicit rant. The reality star shared nude photos and videos that his ex-fiancee had sent him after alleging she cheated on him. While the mother-of-two responded in a relatively subdued manner on social media, sharing a video of her jewelry as she laughed, E! News has learned she's looking into a more serious response behind closed doors. Chyna's attorney Walter Mosley tells E! News: "We are taking this assault against Chyna very seriously and exploring all of the legal remedies available to my client at this time." Following the Fourth of July holiday, Kardashian took to Instagram to slam Chyna in a myriad of posts that claimed she had cheated on him during their nearly year-long relationship. The explicit rant also included naked photos of her breasts, buttocks and vagina as well as an intimate video of her in bed with another man.

Blue Man Group Sells to Cirque du Soleil

Blue Man Group has entertained millions of people over the years, but now they’re embarking on a new chapter as they join forces with another massive entertainment company. New York-based Blue Man Productions has been purchased by Cirque du Soleil, which is looking to expand its reach beyond the acrobatic shows that they’ve become legendary for. “We want to broaden our horizons, develop new forms of entertainment, reach out to new audiences and expand our own creative capabilities,” Cirque du Soleil CEO Daniel Lamarre said in a statement. “We are extremely excited to welcome the iconic Blue Man Group to our portfolio of shows.” The Blue Man Group maintains permanent shows in New York, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Orlando and Berlin, according to their website.
